Demand and Prices for Blog Sites Skyrockets

SitePoint Pty. Ltd.'s Marketplace (sitepoint.com/marketplace), the Web's premier online forum for buying, selling, and trading web sites, blogs and domain names has noticed a rapid increase in the demand for blog sites.

"Entrepreneurs are rapidly bidding up any high-quality blog site that is listed in our MarketPlace," notes Matt Mickiewicz, SitePoint's Co-Founder.

One particularly notable listing, BlogCatalog.com sold at the buy-it-now price of $40,000 within 24
hours of being posted on the SitePoint Marketplace.

The seller of BlogCatalog noted, "The buy-it-now price was reached within 24 hours of the auction start date. We privately had seven other people contact us to inform us they were interested if the deal fell through, and two people even offered us more to break the deal."

Other blog sites are also flying off the auction block. Eatonweb.com, the Internet's first blog directory, hit its buy-it-now price within 72 hours of its being listed on SitePoint, with a final selling price equal to 100 times the site's monthly revenue.

Bids for 2RSS.com, another blog directory, reached the buy-it-now price within 3 hours of the auction being posted in the SitePoint MarketPlace. The site sold for a price equivalent to 100 times its monthly revenue.

Other recent notable blog sales through the SitePoint MarketPlace include:

- The Blog Watch Network (blog industry news)
- Biziki (business blog)
- College-Startup.com
- UnmatchedStyle.com (blog for web designers)
- Coolosxapps.net (Mac OS X Software)
- The Poker Blog ("Get Rich from your Dorm Room")

The SitePoint Marketplace was featured in the June 2006 issue of Business 2.0 magazine as "the favorite place for web developers to buy and sell web sites." Over 400 quality web sites are listed for sale every month, and listing fees start for as little as $20.
