Rohm and Haas Extends Application Deadline for Newark-Area Community Partnership Initiative Grant Program

Newark, DE (PRWeb) March 29, 2007 -- Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials has extended the deadline to April 19 for non-profit organizations applying for its Community Partnership Initiative, which will provide $30,000 in funding for a selected youth program in the Newark area in 2007.

The Community Partnership Initiative targets programs that support youth activities and recreation, educational enrichment, youth development, and community beautification in the greater Newark, Delaware, area; specifically, the area between the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, the Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland state lines, and Route 7.

Priority consideration is given to programs that meet the following criteria:

- Address a demonstrated need within the area of focus
- Are structured and have adult supervision
- Have a clear and measurable plan for achieving long term impact
- Reach a large and diverse segment of the youth living in our target communities
- Are sustainable after the conclusion of the Initiative's grant.

The Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials Community Advisory Committee, which is made up of volunteer representatives from the Newark area, makes the Community Partnership Initiative grant decisions and ensures the program targets the areas of greatest need in the community through periodic needs assessment surveys of local leaders.
