Washington, D.C. Community Leaders Come Together to Fight Malaria - June 14 -19, 2007
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) June 7, 2007 -- Nothing But Nets will host a series of events from June 14-19 in Washington, DC as part of its national effort to raise awareness about malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa.

The United Nations Foundation, The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), the Washington Mystics, and the people of The United Methodist Church will co-host several events including a Capitol Hill reception with Congressman Donald M. Payne (D-NJ) and an in-arena promotion during the Washington Mystics game, which kicks-off the WNBA's partnership with Nothing But Nets.

The Washington Mystics kick-off the first of many Nothing But Nets in-arena nights where players and fans come together to combat malaria together through pre-game and half-time presentations, auctions, and contests.

Faith leaders from the DC area will come together to pray for children and families who suffer from malaria and discuss the current issues and threats posed by this disease. The discussion will also focus on opportunities for United Methodists and other faith groups to get involved in Nothing But Nets. Bishop Schol will share highlights from his recent trip with the Nothing But Nets campaign to distribute insecticide-treated bed nets to families and children in Zimbabwe.
