Community Website Wordsy.com Opens Gates

Amsterdam (PRWEB) August 3, 2007 -- Today the community website Wordsy.com (www.wordsy.com) has reached a new stage in its development, as it is now seeking to broaden its user base. "We we believe our current technology has enough features to be of interest to our intended users: people who love books and reading," says Wordsy.com managing director Hans Dekker.

Wordsy.com is a hub for people who like books and reading - and who are seeking interesting content on the web. Dekker: "There are so many places on the web to find content about books and reading - like reviews, previews, discussions, newspaper articles, blog posts, video's, podcasts and original literature. Yet there is no easy way to find that content and to stay up to date. Wordsy.com will that by combining links to all that content in one place and let the community judge how good or interesting it is. At Wordsy you'll get your daily fix."

Dekker: "We have held a very small beta over the past few months, with a mere 500 or so users. Now we're ready to enter a new phase, where we'd like to open our doors to more users. But visitors should realize that Wordsy will keep evolving. There are many features still being worked on.", says Hans Dekker. "In the coming months we will be rolling out more features to strengthen the community aspects of the site."

Enough with the tech already. Here comes book social.

There is a growing need for niche content and communities - places where the vast and growing amount of content that's created every day is filtered, evaluated and contextualized. "Wordsy in its core is a community powered content filter for people who like books and reading", says Dekker, who continues: "We believe that niche web communities are still in their infancy and will show strong growth as the Internet replaces television and newspapers as people's primary source of content." Right now, according to Dekker, there are too many services for the technology crowd and not enough for other people. Dekker: "I like Gadgets and Apple hardware as much as the next guy, but there's more content out there. Much, much more."

Dekker says he realizes the inherent irony of the Wordsy-situation: many people who like books do not like the internet. However, he believes this will change "as the web will take a more central place in people's lives - mostly at the expense of mediums like television and news papers. People will want more specifically catered content all the time, and Wordsy will provide that for a select group. The community is growing, web use is growing, content is growing: the case for Wordsy is growing."
