Prentice Hall Announces Public Review of SOA Design Patterns: 60 Patterns Posted for Community Review, Feedback Prior to
NEW YORK (Business Wire EON) December 11, 2007 -- The list of patterns, and attending summaries, are currently available on www.soapatterns.org, and will be formally published in the spring of 2008 as the book SOA Design Patterns, written by best-selling author Thomas Erl. It will be the fourth title in "The Prentice Hall Service-Oriented Computing Series from Thomas Erl" (www.soabooks.com), which has five additional SOA titles currently in development.
"We want these design patterns to be every bit as good as they can be, so that they stand the test of time as a true foundation for SOA practitioners," Erl said. "The SOA community is thriving, and we hope to focus it on this common goal of establishing industry best practices."
SOA Design Patterns, the book, is also undergoing a formal, large-scale manuscript review by over 100 industry professionals representing major SOA organizations, vendors, academic institutions, and leading experts in both the SOA and patterns communities. Information regarding this review is available at www.soapatterns.com. Following publication of the book, pattern designs- both existing and future ones- will continue to be available at www.soapatterns.org as a permanent community resource.
SOA Design Patterns follows Erl's SOA: Principles of Service Design (www.soabooks.com), a title widely recognized for establishing the service-oriented design paradigm.
Erl further discusses SOA design patterns and related design principles in a six-part podcast series just published on the new OnSOA podcast channel from InformIT: www.informit.com/onsoa
