Are Your Feet Green? New Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Community Launches with Organic Sock Giveaway

Edmonds, Wash. (PRWEB) January 27, 2008 -- For most people, green living does not happen overnight. It occurs gradually as awareness increases and more steps are incorporated into busy lifestyles and traditional business practices.

To encourage people to dip their toes into eco-friendly living, Washington-based Green for Good is launching its new online community -- www.greenforgood.com -- with a contest aimed at giving away 200 pairs of organic cotton socks. Winners will be selected from a pool of site users who complete the free site registration process between now and June 30, 2008.

But the contest is about more than free socks, says David Kaufer, Green for Good's founder and Chief Green Officer. It's about driving home the main philosophy of Green for Good: "Gradual changes are the key to creating a greener world; you don't have to overhaul your life to make a difference in your environment."

"Our goal is to help individuals and businesses learn new ways to incorporate Green steps into their daily lives," he adds. "We refer to it as 'going greener' -- sharing healthier and environmentally friendly ideas minus the lectures or making people feel guilty."

Through contests, chat rooms, polls, classifieds, event listings and auctions, Green for Good "is creating a community of folks who can talk about issues, raise questions and explore ideas about a range of environmental topics, from reducing paper waste in the office to educating children about protecting our planet," Kaufer adds.

As part of that effort, Green for Good has assembled a collection of respected experts who write regularly on subjects that include greener eats to greener gardening, plus natural health and bodybuilding. "We offer a range of perspectives, including columns from a 'Greener Teen' and a 'Greener Senior'," Kaufer says.

Membership at GreenForGood.com is free for individuals and organizations (including non-profits, government agencies and businesses), and all members are encouraged to promote their news and upcoming events. In addition, all organizations receive a free listing in the Green Business Directory. Organizations also have the option of upgrading their membership to sell products and services through the Green for Good Marketplace and to receive discounted online advertising in the Green Business Directory.
