Two Portland Maine Stores Merge to Serve Growing Multisport Community

Portland, Maine (PRWEB) January 24, 2008 -- Portland's Midcoast Multisports and Peak Performance Sports have merged and will be known as Peak Performance Multisport. The business has opened at a new, larger location - 317 Marginal Way, Portland.

"Combining the two premier multisport shops will allow us to better focus and serve the growing active community with awesome new products, clinics and services at our new location," said owner Tim Brewer. The new store occupies the former Children's Theater of Maine and is not far from the Portland Trails network that circles Back Cove, a popular training route for runners, walkers and cyclists with easy bike access out of town.

Brewer purchased two local multisport stores in Portland: Peak Performance Sports on Middle Street and Midcoast Multisport on Munjoy Hill. He will continue to work with Midcoast and Trimainiac team founder, Rob Smith, to give shape to the new 4,750-square-foot store and the range of services it will offer. Both recognize the explosive growth of multisport and plan to make Portland and Peak Performance Multisport a premier destination for people looking to train and race successfully.

"The merger is a great thing," said Smith. "Triathletes -- particularly those new to the sport -- have a lot of questions and need opportunities to train together. This merger puts the focus on the athlete."

The new, expanded store will specialize in swimming, cycling, running, triathlon, Nordic skiing and sports nutrition. It also will offer a full-service bike shop, clinics, training and the most complete combination of multisport products and services available. The store also will host regular group runs, bikes, swims as well as in season Nordic ski sessions.
