Renowned Sports Jersey Vendor OnTheField.com Launches Online Blog
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 13, 2008 -- Lane James has long run a successful retail store and sports web site at www.OnTheField.com. Now he takes that business one step further with his sports gear blog, www.CustomAuthenticJerseys.com, giving sports fans worldwide the opportunity to share their thoughts and giving him the ability to communicate directly with his buying public.
"I've been a retailer for 35 years. Whether in-store or online, you have to treat the people with respect, and you have to listen to what they want," says Lane James, owner of www.OnTheField.com, the online part of his long-established sports jersey and merchandise business. On The Field began as a brick-and-mortar store in Seattle, located in the shadow of the Kingdome (which was still standing, back then). Lane grew his business into a respected landmark in the community, building a loyal customer base and a reputation for both quality products and exemplary customer service. In 1997, he opened the business up to the Internet with www.OnTheField.com, offering a catalog of fine sports jerseys. "We are blessed to be one of the few stores chosen by the NFL and Reebok to carry this line of jerseys," explains James, detailing his catalog. "There are only about 12 stores licensed to do so. We have all of the items in-stock, and ship on the day of the order. Our theme is, 'Get Into the Game'."
Lane is now offering an even higher level of customer service for his online audience via his business blog, www.CustomAuthenticJerseys.com. The web-based forum allows On The Field to better communicate with their online customers, giving them information on upcoming products and allowing feedback in an easy-to-use fashion. "One of my main objectives is to maintain a high level of integrity and a certain sense of ethics," says James, who is trying to bring the retail store feel of his store to this new venue. "I keep 'em happy and coming back. We're one of the few online businesses that still provides an 800 number at the bottom of the page."
For the blog, however, James has a plan in mind. "In my estimation, I think that the best way to use the blog is to feature our specials, which are sizeable -- we're having a huge sale now, which is half off for almost all college products. Also, we want to feature our new program in the collegiate direction. Those are two things we're excited about, and I feel that it's good to show the customer those plans in a different way."
The blog will also feature information on the various charities On The Field is involved in, be they donations or sponsorships. "At Christmastime, our crew and staff all got together, grabbed $16,000 worth of donations in sweaters, jerseys, and hats, and we went down to the local mission for the homeless and gave these people our products for their families, their kids, or people who just needed jackets," says Lane proudly. "It was a warm thing to do that time of the year, and we've been so blessed that we wanted others to feel that, as well."
When asked what his main reason for running the business is, Lane's answer is quite simple. "This business is the most fun thing in the world for me to do. It's like Christmas every morning for me," he said/
