"What World Cup?" - An Online Community Announces Major Campaign To Counteract FIFA World Cup Event in Germany

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 8, 2006 -- Since the first event of FIFA World Cup™ in 1930, the World Cup celebration has drawn the attention of billions of people around the globe. However, there are people who don't like to watch the World Cup, especially the North American people.

Ironically and strangely enough, USA soccer team has been playing at the World Cup since the very first event in Montevideo, Uruguay, and the first World Cup hat-trick was achieved by Bert Patenaude of the USA team against Paraguay.

Based on popularity, three of the most popular sports in North America are basketball, baseball and the American football. Soccer is far from being popular.

Today, WhatWorldCup.com, announced that it has started its major campaign to match the World Cup popularity in Germany. The website targets to sell 100,000 T-shirts that says; 'What World Cup?' - which means; the person who wears the T-shirt doesn't care about the World Cup at all.

The T-shirt is designed for basketball fans, baseball fans, American football fans or anyone that may dislike the World Cup event.

"We believe that the American people can make a bigger sporting event than the World Cup," said Peter Burns, one of the participants who claimed that he can't live without basketball. "Bigger enough to make anyone in the world shocked!"

It is without a doubt that soccer fans are dominated by men. Where are the women then? "We let the guys have their own fun, as long as they let us have our own fun," said Clarice Edgewood, a housewife in Manchester, UK, who doesn't want to join her husband watching the World Cup in Germany. "We, the ladies, have our own celebration to enjoy, what world cup?"
